Kylian Mbappé put on a masterclass, scoring a stunning hat trick to send Real Madrid past Manchester City and into the Champions League semifinals. With Erling Haaland sidelined due to a knee injury, Madrid took full advantage, securing a 3-1 win on the night and a commanding 6-3 victory on aggregate over the defending champions.

“This was the complete performance—attack, defense, with and without the ball. We showed such high levels of quality,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “Almost the perfect night.”

Mbappé wasted no time making his mark, opening the scoring in the fourth minute with an audacious first-time lob over City’s goalkeeper Ederson, who may have rushed out too soon.

He doubled Madrid’s lead in the 33rd, coolly slotting home after putting Joško Gvardiol on the ground with a clever move. His third goal was pure class—a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the box, drawing in six City defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot.

"I've always said I didn't come here just to live out a dream," Mbappé said, reflecting on his performance. "I want to play well, I want to mark an era."
