Mikaela Shiffrin Secures Historic 100th World Cup Victory, Matching an All-Time Record
When Mikaela Shiffrin crossed the finish line, knowing she had just secured her 100th World Cup victory, the weight of the moment overwhelmed her.

The skiing sensation broke down in tears, overcome with emotion as she soaked in the significance of her achievement.“Everybody’s been so nice and so supportive,” Shiffrin said, expressing gratitude after the race. “All of my teammates and competitors and coaches, the whole World Cup, and I’m so grateful. Thank you. And the fans, thank you so much.”
A Special Moment with Teammate Paula Moltzan
Shiffrin’s victory was made even more meaningful by sharing the moment with her teammate, Paula Moltzan. As the two pushed each other throughout the race, Shiffrin could hear the crowd cheering Moltzan on at the start, giving her a sense of familiarity and motivation.
“I think it’s pretty special to share it with Paula,” she said. “I could hear everybody cheering from the start when she went, and I thought: ‘OK, it’s like a day of training. We just keep pushing.’ And she pushes, and I push, and I made it achievable.”
Shiffrin humbly acknowledged that her victory was a combination of skill, timing, and luck. “Today, a lot of things had to go right for me—and actually wrong for some others—for this to happen,” she admitted. “But in the end, I did something right too.”
A Historic Milestone in Skiing
With her 100th win, Shiffrin becomes the first downhill skier in history—male or female—to reach this milestone. However, she now joins an elite group of multi-discipline skiers who have surpassed the 100-win mark.
But Shiffrin’s record-breaking day didn’t end there. With this victory, she also tied the all-time record for most World Cup podium finishes, securing her 155th career podium—matching Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark.
This latest achievement cements Shiffrin’s place among the greatest athletes in skiing history. At just 29 years old, with many competitive seasons ahead of her, there’s little doubt that she will continue rewriting the record books.
For now, though, Shiffrin is simply taking a moment to appreciate the journey. “This is special,” she said. And with every race, she proves why she is one of the most dominant and beloved figures in the sport.
