The 2025 World Open Snooker tournament is currently taking place from Sunday, February 23, to Saturday, March 1, in Yushan, China.

This prestigious ranking event has already seen some surprising upsets, with several top players making an early exit, adding to the tournament’s excitement.
For fans eager to watch the action, the tournament is being broadcast live on Eurosport 1 and TNT Sports 3. However, from Thursday, February 28, Eurosport channels will shut down, making TNT Sports 3 the only TV channel covering the matches. Additionally, TNT Sports customers can stream the games live through the discovery+ app and website, ensuring they don’t miss a moment of the competition.
With a total prize fund of £825,000, the tournament offers substantial rewards for top performers. The winner will take home £175,000, while the runner-up will receive £75,000. Semi-finalists earn £33,000 each, quarter-finalists take £22,000 each, and players reaching the last 16 get £14,000 each. Those making it to the last 32 and last 64 rounds will receive £9,000 and £5,000, respectively. Additionally, the highest break of the tournament will be awarded £5,000. This structured prize distribution ensures that players progressing through various stages are adequately rewarded.
The competition has already witnessed some major upsets. Defending champion Judd Trump, who had won the last two editions of the World Open, suffered a shock last-32 defeat to Joe O’Connor, ending his impressive 16-match winning streak in the tournament. Similarly, Mark Allen was eliminated early by David Lilley, while Liu Hongyu stunned Mark Selby, despite Selby’s recent Welsh Open victory. Adding to the tournament's excitement, Shaun Murphy achieved a 147 maximum break in his match against Zhou Jinhao, positioning himself as a contender for the £5,000 highest break prize.
